Open your powerpoint file

Click on a
slide where you want to start music

Click on Insert
tab
-
click Audio, and then click Audio on my PC

Locate and
double-click the music file.

Click on
this icon, Playback tab will appear
- If you are using Powerpoint 2013, on the Playback tab, click Play in Background
If you are using Powerpoint 2010, your screen does not have Play in Background so you need to check on some properties like the below picture:
TIP: If your music is from an online website, download it to your computer’s hard drive first. The supported audio file formats are AU Audio file (.au), MP3 Audio file (.mp3), Advanced Audio Coding - MPEG-4 Audio file (.m4a, .mp4), Windows Audio file (.wav), Windows Media Audio file (.wma)
